Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 August 2026
This policy explains what H&N&M Investment LLC collects when you use LingoHarbor, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
1. What we collect
| Account | Name (optional), email address, password (stored only as a salted hash), and the role of your account. |
|---|---|
| Sign-in with Google | Your Google account ID, email address and display name. We never receive your Google password. |
| Lessons | Who taught whom, when, and for how long. Live video and audio pass through our video provider and are not stored by us. |
| Lesson Book | Sentences recognised from what you said in a lesson, and the corrections your tutor made, so you can review them and so your quiz can be built. |
| Payments | Which package you bought, the amount, and the Stripe identifiers. Card numbers are handled by Stripe and never reach our servers. |
| Support | Messages you send to the support chat, and the replies. |
| Technical | Basic request data needed to serve the site securely (IP address, browser type, error logs). |
2. Why we use it
- To run lessons, keep your minute balance correct and take payment.
- To build your Lesson Book, quiz and replay — the study tools are generated from your own lessons only.
- To answer your questions and resolve disputes about a lesson.
- To keep the Service secure and to meet our legal and tax obligations.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Voice and speech recognition
During a lesson, speech can be turned into text so it can be translated on screen and saved to your Lesson Book. Where your browser supports it, that happens on your own device. Where a server is used, only the short passage of speech needed for that line is sent, and it is not kept beyond producing the text. Recognised text is stored with your account so you can study it; you can delete it (see §7).
4. Recording
We do not record your lessons. Neither a tutor nor a learner may record a lesson without telling the other party and obtaining consent.
5. Who else is involved
| Cloudflare | Hosting, database and network protection. |
|---|---|
| LiveKit | Live video and audio for lessons. |
| Stripe | Payments. Stripe is the controller of your card data under its own policy. |
| Only if you choose “Sign in with Google”. |
These providers act on our instructions, except where stated. Because our tutors and learners are worldwide, your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States.
6. How long we keep it
- Account and lesson records: while your account is open, then up to 7 years where tax or accounting law requires it.
- Lesson Book and quiz data: until you delete it or close your account.
- Support messages: 2 years.
- Technical logs: normally 30 days.
7. Your choices
You can ask us to:
- send you a copy of your data;
- correct something that is wrong;
- delete your Lesson Book, or your whole account;
- stop using your data for a particular purpose.
Write to info@lingoharbor.com and we will reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.
8. Children
The Service is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
9. Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies: one to keep you signed in, and one short-lived cookie during social sign-in to prevent request forgery. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
10. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will announce it on the site before it takes effect.
