Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of LingoHarbor (the “Service”), operated by H&N&M Investment LLC(“we”, “us”). By creating an account or buying lesson minutes you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. What the Service is
LingoHarbor connects learners with independent English tutors for live online lessons, and provides learning material, an AI conversation partner, and study tools built from your own lessons. Tutors are independent contractors, not our employees. We provide the platform; the teaching itself is delivered by the tutor you choose.
2. Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the consent of a parent or guardian.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details private and for activity under your account.
- One person per account. Sharing an account with others is not permitted.
3. Lesson minutes, prices and payment
Lessons are paid for with prepaid lesson minutes. There is no monthly fee. Prices are shown and charged in your own currency where we support it — US dollar for you — and payment is processed by Stripe, so we never receive or store your full card number. Where your currency is not supported, the price is charged in US dollars.

- Minutes are deducted according to the length of each lesson you take.
- Purchased minutes do not expire.
- Your first 15-minute lesson is free and does not require a purchase.
- We may change prices at any time. A change never affects minutes you have already bought.
- Minutes have no cash value, cannot be transferred to another account, and cannot be resold.
4. Cancellations and refunds
Full details are in the commercial disclosures. In summary:
- Unused minutes: you may request a refund of unused minutes within 14 days of purchase. We refund to the original payment method, less any minutes already spent.
- A lesson the tutor missed, or a lesson broken by a fault on our side: the minutes are returned to your balance in full. Tell us within 7 days.
- A lesson you miss or cancel less than 1 hour before the start: the reserved minutes are used.
- Minutes already spent on completed lessons are not refundable.
5. Using the Service properly
You agree not to:
- record, photograph or publish a lesson, or a tutor’s image or voice, without their clear consent;
- harass, insult or discriminate against tutors or other learners, or behave in a sexual manner towards them;
- arrange payment with a tutor outside the Service in order to avoid fees;
- copy, redistribute or sell our learning material;
- attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the Service.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where we close an account for a serious breach, unused minutes may be forfeited.
6. Lessons, recording and privacy
Lessons are live video calls. Sentences recognised during a lesson may be saved to your own Lesson Book so you can review them; this is described in the Privacy Policy. Neither party may record a lesson without telling the other and obtaining consent.
7. Our material and yours
The course, audio, illustrations and software remain ours. You receive a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own learning while your account is open. What you write or say in a lesson remains yours; you grant us only the permission needed to operate the Service (for example, storing your Lesson Book and showing it back to you).
8. Availability
We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Live video depends on your internet connection, your device and third-party services. Planned maintenance will be announced where practical.
9. Limits of responsibility
The Service is provided “as is”. We do not promise any particular learning outcome, exam result or level of fluency. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Changes and closing your account
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on the site before they take effect. You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may close an account with reasonable notice, and will refund unused minutes unless the account is closed for a serious breach.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable to H&N&M Investment LLC at its registered address, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Where you live in a country whose consumer law gives you stronger rights, those rights still apply to you.
